Local Group Head - Property, Partner
Property
Scott Swainson is a Partner and the Property Local Practice Group Head. He deals with both residential and commercial property transactions and regularly advises both local and non-Bermudian clients in respect of such transactions. He also provides property related advice to banks and other lenders, as well as to hotels and condominium developers.
Scott joined the group in 1998. Prior to that he practised a combination of conveyancing and litigation law at the Bermuda law firm of Cox & Wilkinson (currently Cox Hallett Wilkinson) as an Associate from 1994 until 1998.
Scott was educated in Bermuda, Canada and England. He graduated from Queen’s University, Ontario, Canada with a History degree and studied law at University of Kent at Canterbury in England. He was called to the English Bar in 1992. Scott spent his pupillage at Cox & Wilkinson and was called to the Bermuda Bar in 1994.
Scott is a member of the Bermuda Bar Association. He was listed in the 2009 PLC Which Lawyer Individual rankings as a Leading Lawyer in Real Estate and has spoken at seminars hosted by the firm for banks, real estate agents and programs designed for senior citizens.
